Course completion requirements:
Assessment and completion of the course: Credit test and examination
Continuous assessment: Student passes the continuous assessment and receives credits when he or she meets the requirement to obtain at least 21% out of 40%.
on-line assessments, 9 intermadiate assessments, 40% of the final evaluation
Final assessment: Student passes the final assessment and passes the examination when he or she meets the requirement to obtain at least 31% out of 60%.

Overall assessment: Overall assessment is the sum of the assessments obtained by students in the assessment period. The overall result is determined in accordance with the internal regulations of the Technical University in Košice. (Study Regulations, the internal regulation principles of doctoral studies)
Learning outcomes:
The student will learn network security explaining the basic terms, concepts and approaches to securing network devices. Learn to configure through the Cisco Packet Tracer simulator and lab network devices various real-life scenarios that result in a higher level of network security against attacks. Gaining a basic insight into password encryption, cryptography and implementing technologies such as AAA, L2 security, VPN and ASA configuration. This subject is also a preparation for obtaining the industrial certification Cisco IOS Network Security (IINS) 640-554.
While studying, the student has access to educational materials and an administrative environment for teaching management available through the LMS system (https://netacad.com).

1. Network security / Network threats.
2. Mitigation of attacks / Secure access to the device.
3. Administrative roles / Monitoring and management of network equipment.
4. AAA solution
5. ACL solution
6. Firewall / ZPF / IPS solutions.
7. Security of end devices and L2 layer.
8. Cryptography / VPN.
9. ASA.
10. A deeper look at selected topics from network security.
