Continuous assessment:
overview of relevant papers, presentation and review of a read paper, research data processing
Final assessment: Student passes the final assessment and passes the examination when he or she meets the requirement to obtain at least 51% out of 100%.

Overall assessment: Overall assessment is the sum of the assessments obtained by students in the assessment period. The overall result is determined in accordance with the internal regulations of the Technical University in Košice. (Study Regulations, the internal regulation principles of doctoral studies)
Learning outcomes:
Students will learn to systematically determine the state of the given research area in the world, search for relevant literature sources, understand the structure of scientific papers, critically evaluate them, and keep an overview of the acquired knowledge. They will also gain knowledge about research methods, which they will be able to utilize to design their own scientific studies and experiments, but also to evaluate the designed systems. On examples, they will learn to appropriately present their results.
Brief course content:
1. Definition of research, selection of an appropriate method according to a hypothesis or research question.
2. Searching of relevant sources and their management.
3. Reading scientific papers with comprehension.
4. Critical evaluation of the read papers, review.
5. Writing of scientific papers and theses.
6. Types of research, theoretical and empirical research.
7. Controlled experiment, correlation study.
8. Survey, interview, case study.
9. Benchmarking, secondary studies.
10. Research validity and its threats.
11. Journals, conferences, publication and presentation of results.
12. Research funding, intellectual property, ethics of science.
