Course completion requirements:
Assessment and completion of the course: Credit test and examination
Continuous assessment: Student passes the continuous assessment and receives credits when he or she meets the requirement to obtain at least 21% out of 40%.
mid-term assessments on-line, 14 intermadiate assessments, 40% of the final evaluation
Final assessment: Student passes the final assessment and passes the examination when he or she meets the requirement to obtain at least 31% out of 60%.
10% final exam
50% verbal examination

Overall assessment: Overall assessment is the sum of the assessments obtained by students in the assessment period. The overall result is determined in accordance with the internal regulations of the Technical University in Košice. (Study Regulations, the internal regulation principles of doctoral studies)
Learning outcomes:
Goal of the subject is to overview students with the advanced routing and usage of routers in complex network infrastructures. Main attention is on the complex analysis of the routing algorithms and their applications. Key area of the subject is alligned with the Networking Academy Course of CCNP Route leading to industry certification of CCNP. Students do have access to materials and assessments throught the Learning Management System (
Brief course content:
a) Lecture topics
-       Key areas of the hierarchical network model in scalable infrastructures
-       Specific features of the EIGRP dynamic routing protocol
-       Implementation of the OSPF in the multi-area concept
-       Algorithms for redistribution between the routing protocols
-       Border gateway protocols of type BGP and IGP
-       Security models of computer networks – virtual private networks
-       IP protocol version 6 and routing protocols for IPv6
b) Exercise topics
-       Configuration of the scalable solutions based on the Classless and classful networks
-       Implementation of the redistribution techniques between the routing domains
-       IP protocol version 6 and configuration of IPv6 enabled routing protocols
-       Specific features of the OSPF and EIGRP dynamic routing protocols
-       Optimization of the routing tables in complex infrastructures
-       Configuration and connectivity testing on border routing protocols based on BGP protocol
-       Security concepts based on virtual private networks
